  • bio or travel preferences you choose to add

You may sign in using third-party authentication providers such as:

  • Apple Sign-In

  • trip itineraries
  • itinerary items

  • uploaded documents

  • shared trip content

Documents may include travel documents such as tickets, reservations, visas, or passports.

Users are responsible for the documents they upload and should avoid uploading information they do not wish to store in the Service.

Email Parsing

Users may forward travel confirmation emails to WaySide.

We process these emails to extract relevant travel details and automatically add them to your itinerary.

After processing, the original email content is deleted and not retained by our systems.

AI Features

WaySide may use artificial intelligence systems to assist users with:

  • parsing travel emails
  • generating itinerary suggestions
  • analyzing itinerary items
  • recommending travel activities

These AI features operate only on itinerary data and do not analyze uploaded documents.

Location Information

WaySide may collect location data when you explicitly enable location sharing or location-based features.

Location may be used for:

  • searching nearby places
  • sharing your location with trip participants
  • enhancing travel recommendations

Location sharing is:

  • optional
  • user-controlled
  • time-limited

Usage Information

We may automatically collect information about how the Service is used, including:

  • device type
  • operating system

  • timestamps
  • crash reports

We use tools such as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to help understand app performance and usage.

Analytics data may be retained for longer periods in aggregated or anonymized form.

Security and Abuse Prevention Logs

We may collect technical logs necessary to maintain the security and reliability of the Service, including:

4. Sharing Information With Other Users

WaySide is designed for collaborative travel planning.

Shared Trips

When you join a shared trip, other participants may view:

  • itinerary items
  • shared documents
  • trip notes
  • uploaded content

User Search

Users may search for other users by:

  • username
  • email
  • display name

Search results may display:

  • username
  • display name
  • profile photo (if set)

Full profiles are only visible to:

  • accepted friends
  • users participating in the same trip.

5. Invitations

Users may invite others to join trips via:

  • invite links
  • username
  • email invitations

If an invitation is sent to an email address, WaySide may send an email on behalf of the user to deliver the invitation.

6. Third-Party Services

WaySide relies on trusted third-party services to operate the platform, including:

  • Google Cloud / Firebase – hosting, storage, analytics, and authentication
  • Google OAuth and Apple Sign-In – authentication
  • Apple App Store and Google Play – payment processing
  • AI service providers – for itinerary assistance features

These providers process data only as necessary to deliver their services.

WaySide does not store or process payment information directly.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service.

Typical retention periods include:

  • active account data: retained while your account is active
  • deleted account data: removed within approximately one week
  • automated system backups: retained for up to 30 days

Some information may remain in aggregated or anonymized analytics systems.

8. Account Deletion

Users may request deletion of their account.

When an account is deleted:

  • personal account data is removed from active systems
  • documents and personal trip data are deleted
  • group trips with other participants remain active

Certain content contributed to shared trips may remain but will no longer be associated with your account.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information.

Security measures include:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • secure cloud infrastructure
  • access controls
  • authentication safeguards

Access to user data is limited to authorized personnel who require it to operate, maintain, or improve the Service.

Despite these protections, no system can guarantee absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

WaySide’s infrastructure is hosted on servers located in the United States.

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

11. Children’s Privacy

WaySide is not directed toward children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that such data has been collected, we will take steps to delete it.
